Prolin synaptic associated protein (Shank protein), is a post synaptic anchor molecule. Its has been first described by Prof. T.M. Boeckers (Germany).There are three known family members (ProSAP1/2/3) with similar domains and minor differences in localizations. ProSAP's are mostly localized in excitatory synapses in the CNS as they link post synaptic receptors (e.g. GluR) and cell adhesion molecules to the post synaptic element.
